Virtual Tours Help Keep the Event Dreams Alive

By Steve Eubanks

Georgia might have been the first state to re-open for business, but that did not mean people flocked back to clubs, especially for life-changing special events. Weddings that had been put on hold remained so. How many people could you invite? When could you invite them? Would guests have to wear masks and remain socially distant? When could you have a reception?

While golf club operators could not answer those questions, they could provide some peace of mind and prior planning. At the Country Club of Roswell, just north of Atlanta, director of catering Kyle Sellers reached out to all the club’s future brides and offered virtual tours of the facilities – 360-degree on-screen walk-throughs where Sellers methodically took everyone through the rooms, the setups, the views – every detail down to the silverware and tablecloths that would be used.

“Since most of our events are emotionally driven, engaged couples like to be able to touch and feel and see the spaces,” Sellers said. “Obviously, this is not possible right now.  However, by setting up an appointment and using FaceTime, they are able to envision themselves in the space and start to get excited about their ‘big’ day.”

The lesson is simple: Service still sells, even when it isn’t in person. And you can always provide a high-touch service, even if it’s in a high-tech way.
